JOTA, A DOUBT FOR CUP FINAL

Liverpool forward Diogo Jota is a big doubt ahead of the Carabao Cup final clash with Chelsea on Sunday evening. The Portuguese player is doubtful for the game billed for the iconic Wembley Stadium due to the ankle injury that has forced him to miss the last two Liverpool games in the Premier League.

The Euro 2020 participant suffered the ankle injury in the first half of the Inter Milan game last week Wednesday and he had to be taken off at half-time with Brazilian star Roberto Firmino replacing him. Firmino went on to break the deadlock in the last quarter of the Champions League last 16 first leg game before Mohamed Salah added a second goal to put Liverpool in a very good position to qualify for the quarterfinals at the expense of Inter Milan and ahead of the second leg at Anfield next month.

Euro 2020 participant Jota missed both the Norwich City and Leeds United games in the league on the back of picking up the ankle problem against Inter.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp gave an injury update on Jota ahead of the final as he said that it would be a challenge for the Euro 2020 participant to make it but he has not been completely ruled out. According to him, it is a good sign that the former Wolves player has not shown any reaction after he returned to training.

Klopp also had his say on the muscle injury which has ruled Firmino out of the Carabao Cup final. He said that the Brazilian international is pushing himself hard, but he won’t be available for the game. The German tactician is hoping that the former TSG Hoffenheim star returns to action very soon.

Firmino and Jota are the only ones carrying injury amongst the Liverpool players ahead of the Chelsea clash in the Carabao Cup final.
